Subaru Foresters are manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana. The plant is the only one in North America that manufactures the Forester. The plant opened in May of 1997 and has been producing the Forester ever since.

Subaru Outbacks are manufactured by the Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. factory in Ota, Japan. The factory has been producing Subaru vehicles since 1968 and is the largest producer of Subaru vehicles in the world.

There are many different theories about the origins of the Subaru name. One popular legend says that the company was named after the six stars in the Pleiades constellation. Another story suggests that the name comes from the Japanese word for "unite." In any case, Subaru is a well-known and well-loved brand around the world.
